Flapper Barbie of 1994 is the first doll to which Spencer works with Mattel's new computer design , introduced to create custom designs on fabrics. The drawing done by hand is imported into the computer or even created directly on the computer. All the complex counts for the reduction of a dress to the size of Barbie are now a memory. In 1998 , at the age of 69 , Carol Spencer decided to leave Mattel for the pleasure of having less intense rhythms and more time for herself. The last Barbie produced is the Cafe Society , in which Spencer brings together various aspects he loves, such as red hair (a tribute to herself) and a luxurious dress of charmeuse, lace and velvet. Nel 1998 , all’età di 69 anni , Carol Spencer decide di lasciare la Mattel per il piacere di avere ritmi meno intensi e più tempo per sé. On December 23, 1998 , on the last day of work, she was given a Barbie in her image with a miniature Barbie in plated gold , during a beautiful party in her honor. Carol Spencer continues to attend the Conventions as a guest of honor and she still cares for a sector dedicated to her creations for Barbie in the UFDC headquarters (U nited Federation of Doll Clubs ) in Kansas City, Missouri. In 2019, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of Barbie, Carol Spencer presents the book " Dressing Barbie ", in which she tells the intertwined stories of herself and of the most famous fashion doll.

Il 23 dicembre 1998 , nell’ultimo giorno di lavoro, le viene donata una Barbie a sua immagine con una Barbie in miniatura in oro placcato , durante una bella festa in suo onore. Carol Spencer continua a partecipare alle Convention in qualità di ospite d’onore e cura tutt’ora un settore dedicato alle sue creazioni per Barbie nella sede dell’ UFDC (United Federation of Doll Clubs) a Kansas City, Missouri. Nel 2019, in occasione del 60° anniversario di Barbie, Carol Spencer presenta il libro “ Dressing Barbie ”, in cui racconta le storie intrecciate di se stessa e della fashion doll più famosa.
